Freddie’s will begin delivering marijuana this week

BIG RAPIDS — Freddie’s recently announced that home delivery for both medical and recreational marijuana products will begin in the Big Rapids area next week.

“During these difficult times we have found that customers greatly appreciate having home delivery for their recreational or medical marijuana needs,” Freddie’s owners Nicole and Barry Goodman said. “We are very pleased that we can now offer Freddie’s to the Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant areas.”

Freddie’s is a cannabis dispensary that planned to open in the former Big Rapids Great Lakes Bookstore, located at 840 Clark St.

The couple’s original goal was to open their retail shop by April 20.

Goodman previously said he wanted “fill this building with activity — not just in the cannabis industry, but activity in the community — and make it alive again.”

However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the couple has had to push their opening date to a later time.

“We are making good progress on opening a Freddie’s in Big Rapids, but due to the current health crisis this will take longer than anticipated,” the Goodmans’ said. “Freddie’s will open, albeit a bit later than we hoped.”

Though the retail shop will have to wait a little longer, Freddie’s marijuana delivery service will begin Wednesday, April 22 in the Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant areas and continue Wednesdays thereafter.

Deliveries will be made between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Orders need to be placed two days in advance by using the Freddie’s website, freddiesjoint.com.

The following information will be required including name, address, phone number and a driver’s license, state-issued identification number or medical marijuana card information.

Delivery is initially available to customers living in zip codes:

• 49307 – Big Rapids

• 49332 – Mecosta

• 49340 – Remus

• 49342 – Chippewa Lake, Rodney

• 48858 – Mt. Pleasant

• 48859 – Mt. Pleasant

State mandated limits, 2.5 ounces of marijuana or equivalent product per day, are still in place.

The customer placing the order must be the one receiving the order when the delivery is made.

“We look forward to delivering the Freddie’s lifestyle to customers and patients,” the couple said. “We’re here to make people happy.”

Freddie’s is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
